Cheese Tour

The Royal Whisky & Cheese tour is set to take you on a breath-taking journey up the Dee Valley which over the centuries has been a well-loved route for royalty, tourists and locals. The river Dee winds its way back from Aberdeen harbour to its source deep in the Cairngorms along the way exposing some very iconic landscapes and landmarks.

Our first stop will be at the Old Station in Ballater where we will get to see the royal carriage and the royal waiting room designed by Queen Victoria herself.

From here we will visit one of Scotland’s most exclusive whisky distilleries for a tour and a tasting of a dram fit for royalty. The small scale and history of the distillery give a real authentic feel for where the industry came from.

We will then head to a local artisan baker for some lunch. We will choose from the daily changing menu which features produce from Upper Deeside’s finest producers. And I will introduce you to Aberdeenshire’s famous “Buttery”, baked by one of our finest bakers to the most traditional of methods.

After lunch we will head to a local creamery and discover how one farming family’s traditional methods and recipes have been passed down from generations, to create some of the finest raw milk farmhouse cheeses on the market. Of course, this will be finished off with a cheese tasting.

Expect a comfortable scenic journey through Deeside where we will meet great people, hear their stories and sample some excellent locally produced food and drink.

This is a full-day tour usually taking around 8-9 hours depending on your pick-up location.
