Environmental and Sustainability Policy

Environmental & Sustainability Policy

At Bothies & Bannocks, we are driven by our love for Scotland and are dedicated to sharing its rich culture, history, landscapes, and wildlife with our valued guests. Recognising the importance of preserving and enhancing our natural environment and local culture, we are committed to operating in a socially and environmentally responsible manner.

Our Commitments:

Sourcing Local, Organic, and Environmentally Friendly Products: We prioritise the use of local, organic, and environmentally friendly products wherever available. By supporting local suppliers, we contribute to the sustainability of the region and minimise our carbon footprint.

Leave No Trace: We are committed to not harming people, the environment, and wildlife. During our guided tours in the Cairngorms National Park, we ensure that our presence leaves no trace. This includes responsibly managing waste, picking up litter left by others, minimising disturbance to wildlife, and maintaining respect for fellow visitors.

Educational Tours: Our tours go beyond the scenic views, as we provide information on nature, wildlife, local culture, and history. We encourage our guests to actively participate by sharing their wildlife sightings and experiences during the tour.

Responsible Visitor Charter: Bothies & Bannocks actively promotes a responsible visitor charter among our guests. We encourage them to use public transport where possible, be considerate towards others, respect the environment, support local establishments, minimise waste, and dispose of waste appropriately. By sharing their experiences, our guests contribute to the collective responsibility of preserving the beauty of Scotland.

Carbon Footprint Monitoring and Offsetting: We are dedicated to monitoring and reducing our impact on the environment and the Cairngorms region. In addition to reducing our carbon footprint, we support projects and activities that contribute to offsetting it. This includes initiatives such as tree planting, wildlife conservation projects, and woodland preservation.

Use of Local and Recycled Products: Bothies & Bannocks prioritises the use of local and recycled products wherever feasible. This not only supports the local economy but also reduces the demand for new resources, contributing to a more sustainable future.

Continuous Improvement: Bothies & Bannocks is committed to continuous improvement in our environmental and sustainability practices. We regularly review and update our policies to align with the latest best practices and technologies, ensuring that we remain at the forefront of sustainable tourism in the Cairngorms National Park.

This policy is effective as of January 2024 and will be regularly reviewed and updated as necessary.
